Company Profile
Laurence-Hovenier, Inc. was created from the framing division of one of California's leading home builders in 1979. Ron Laurence and Fred Hovenier concentrated on providing complete production framing packages (labor, lumber, and engineered products) for Southern California's home building boom. Now with over twenty years of continuous operation and a high bonding capacity, they have built long-lasting relationships with some of the nation's most prudent Developers, Home Builders, and General Contractors.
Laurence-Hovenier, Inc. is very interested in being part of your next project.
The People
The success and longevity of Laurence-Hovenier, Inc. is due to the dedication of its experienced carpenters, conscientious supervision and thorough office staff. With a twelve-year average employment term by the company's office and field managers, Laurence-Hovenier is able to provide the customer/client with a competent, knowledgeable and stable work force. Averaging over 300 carpenters on payroll each week, we are able to provide full manpower to complete all projects on or ahead of schedule. The work force is supervised by a close-knit group of foreman and office staff so that everyone is in the loop to ensure personal attention to all projects and quick response to any problem.
The Projects
A portion of our work is derived from residential phasing tracts or large single phase projects of multi-family apartments and condominiums. These projects allow us to perfect material quantities and operational procedures that jointly benefit the customer, our work force and expediting the construction schedule. Where recent litigation by homeowner association have made liability insurance almost impossible to obtain for condominium projects, we are still able to provide coverage because of our minimal historical loss ratios and aggressive attitude towards fighting claims.
From engineered roof systems, demising walls, mansard roofs and mezzanines to free standing wood framed commercial and industrial structures, we have been very successful combining our production techniques with the complexity of commercial projects. Recent projects have included the Bacara Resort and Spa, stage floors for the Kodak Theatre and Royce Hall, ski lodges in Mammoth Lakes, three sound stages at Disney Studios and numerous buildings at Knott's Berry Farm.
Our Public Works schedule of work has expanded during the last couple of years with major dormitory projects at California State Universities San Bernardino, Fullerton, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and at the University of California, Riverside. We have recently started the prefabrication of framing wall packages from remote locations, shipping to the site as needed, allowing us to accelerate the production schedule and help solve limited storage facilities at these sites.

The Technology
This company works closely with representatives of major manufacturers of engineered wood products, seismic and framing hardware, equipment and other products to provide the most current products and procedures to add quality and value to our clients projects. Whenever possible, we prefer to be involved with pre-job planning and lending value engineering assistance to reduce construction costs and provide structural soundness.
Safety
Before safety programs were mandated by the State of California (SB 198), Laurence-Hovenier, Inc. had a written safety program promoting safety standards throughout the company. Our program has always met or exceeded OSHA compliance programs. We have a remarkably low workers compensation modification rate for a construction company that has been in business for over twenty years. But, the most important factor of our program is our employees' safety. A project is never considered successful if we have had a lost time accident.
Customer Service Policy
A large part of our success is due to our concern for providing a quality product the first time around. Unfortunately, we are not perfect and we fully realize that customer service to the builder and owner is the key to customer satisfaction.
We extend our warranty and customer service beyond the industry standard. This is very important to developers that have ongoing multiple phasing projects. We have a very capable and dependable customer service representative who is usually available to provide service within a 48-hour notice. Our representative has over 20 years of experience and is very qualified, detailed, and conscientious. Normally, we provide a job closure letter at the end of a project, giving directions for contacting these services when needed.
It is our belief that it takes many years and projects to develop a good reputation, but only one bad comment to destroy it. |
